FIVE-A-SIDE SOCCER RULES

• Four players plus a goal keeper may be on the field at one time.
• No Tackling a player from behind. This will result in a free kick.
• No bicycle or scissor kicks allowed. This will be deemed as dangerous play and a gree kick will be awarded to the opposition.
• The ball cannot be played if the player is off their feet.
• No slide tackling.  No form of sliding will be permitted.
• No two-on-one tackles
• Defenders may enter their own goal area but may not play the ball in the goal area.
• Attacking players may enter the opposing goal area.
• No playing barefoot.

GOALKEEPERS

• Goal keeper may not pick the ball up from a direct pass.
• Goal keeper may only handle the ball in the demarcated goal area.
• The Goal keeper may score a goal from their own goal area
• If the Goalkeeper comes outside his goal area – he or she becomes an infield player and those rules apply.

PENALTIES

• No run-up is allowed when taking penalties and the the standing foot must be grounded at all times.
• A Players no-kicking foot is place next to the ball on the designated penalty spot and the ball is to be kicked from that stance.
• The Goalkeeper is not allowed to move off his/her goal line until the ball has been kicked by the penalty taker.
• No baulking by the kicker is allowed.

FREE KICKS

• Indirect kicks – the opposition player(s) must be a minimum of 2 meters away from the ball.
• The player taking the free kick has 5 seconds.
• The Player must shoot for a goal direction.  The player must indicate to the referee that they are kicking direct.  If the free-kick is in the attacking half than all the defenders must clear a path for the kick.
• A Player cannot pass the ball to himself and continue with play.  He must pass it to a team-mate.

LEAGUES

• Games will be 50 minutes. Two times 25 minutes with a two-minute interval.
